NTK Conference 2010 does not like company attenders

Today Slovenian Microsoft subsidy started with NTK 2010 home page which looks really cool, especially with integrated Telerik controls.

BUT,

if you would like to apply to the conference, a problem arise. Especially if you are a company attender. You could not apply to the NTK because site .. ehm .. crashes. YSOD. Good for them that they exclude exception trace. Oh yeah, this is the default setting.

So, if you are a non-company attender good for you, you can apply.

But if you are company. Go home.

Dear Slovene Microsoft, it is really unprofessional to unleash the web page that even basic functionality is crashing.

Dear Peter! We have noticed, that you had problem with the ntk submission form. Default time for filling out the form was set on 20 Minutes (default session time). We didnt expect, that person with computer knowledge will need more then 20 Minutes for the second form. Our mistake, sorry. We will prepare a patch and extend the session time.

Very well, 20 minutes are the default ASP.NET (as you are using) session time-out. What did you set? Even so, al least what you should do is implement custom error page. I am sure we agree on that.

I got response from Bojan Vrhovnik thru e-mail:

'Da se ne bomo pingali levo / desno, vam bom odgovoril kar po elektronski pošti. Strani za napako bodo online danes.
Pri nameščanju aplikacije na Azure smo jih pozabili vklopit, bodo pa danes / jutri online.
Kar se pa tiče uporaba seje, je pa glaven razlog tudi opisan na tem forumu.
Uporabljamo ga zaradi transakcije (račun se ne zaključi, dokler ne pride uporabnik do zadnjega koraka zaradi zaračunavanja itd.),
zaradi perfomančnega stališča (da ne obremenjujemo baze in ker je v primerjavi z session-om viewstate dosti potraten – še posebej, ker je na strani dosti elementov) in tretje zaradi tega navodila:
"The Web ReportViewer requires session state for processing of the reports.
Please make sure that you DO NOT have EnableSessionState=false in your page directive or 'sessionState' Off in your web.config or machine.config files."'
